Florida Activist Holds Rally Protesting Demings Mask Policies
The financial duress perpetrated on many businesses as a result of Orange County's coronavirus restrictions has come to a boiling point. Now local activists have stepped in to protest Mayor Demings's restrictions.
Activist Lou Marin held a bi-partisan Freedom Rally last week, which attracted all walks of life demanding Mayor Demings lift the face mask mandate in Orange County or face recall.
“Demings's overreach is hurting our community and he needs to end his masquerade party,” activist Lou Marin said about Demings's mask mandates.
Though Orange County no longer possesses the legal authority to enforce mask mandates due to governor Ron DeSantis’s decision to nullify the orders last September, the financial damage to many establishments cannot be reversed. Countless businesses now suffer from irreversible losses or no longer remain open.
One such business, the Pharmacy in Dr. Phillips, served as a popular hang out for the well to do, but even with a wealthy clientele, many speculate the mask mandate killed the business.
Although Jerry Demings, Orange County's Mayor, considers himself to be a staunch Democrat, the pushback from his draconian policies isn’t isolated to the Republican Party. Business owners of all political stripes as well as consumers feel frustrated and sometimes enraged at his overreach.
A press release from Marin said people were tired of Demings's policies and need compassion: "Orange County residences are getting fed up with his authoritarian and fear mongering behavior and encourage him to govern with common sense and compassion."
