Congressman-Elect Cory Mills Springs into Action During Hurricane Nicole

Congressman-elect Cory Mills warned residents to be prepared for Hurricane Nicole and immediately sprang into action during the storm which has caused thousands to evacuate beach condos in wake of the weather event due to structural issues.

"To all CD7 (Seminole/ Volusia) residences and neighbors, let’s stay safe and be cautious as TS Nicole passes. Be alert, cautious of standing waters and downed power lines, and listen for emergency updates. Stay Strong Florida! We will get through this!"

On Friday, state inspectors are expected to continue assessing buildings in Volusia County that could be compromised following Tropical Storm Nicole.

So far, 49 structures throughout the county have been red-flagged for structural concerns.

Since the storm’s passing, officials have deemed 24 condominium buildings and hotels — 22 in Daytona Beach Shores alone — as “unsafe.”

According to a list released by Volusia County, the 22 condo and hotel buildings, all along Highway A1A, range in height from two to 22 stories. They include:
