"Crying Towel" Charity Benefit Hosted by Roger Franklin Williams and Christner's Steakhouse
Christner's Prime Steak and Lobster teamed up with Roger Franklin Williams to host the annual "crying towel" benefit Monday in support of high school sports. Traditionally, the term crying towel in sports refers the more pessimistic tone coaches take in their pre-season addresses to fans in order to keep expectations in check Despite the lugubrious name, Monday's dinner served up a lighthearted chat alongside Christner's finest dishes.
Following a hearty dinner, Williams recorded his radio program live and welcomed coaches from local high school teams to give their take on the upcoming season. Several of the coaches also spent time reminiscing about past victories and losses.
Attending the event were a wide array of distinguished guests such as Apopka mayor Bryan Nelson, former high school teachers and war veterans. The event was also critically supported and attended by Jim Flanagan of Christner's steakhouse.
The Christner family has been supportive of the event since it’s inception and remains active in the community at large.
The Roger Franklin Williams Show came about roughly 23 years ago and currently runs on 1520 AM presenting "inside political information from a Traditional American Values perspective that respects our founding traditons of God, Family and Country."
