Seminole Republicans Set to Address Disruptors at Feb. 17 REC Meeting

A group of Seminole Republicans now seeks to oust their party's leaders in the county by filing complaints to be addressed at an upcoming meeting. The petition refers several in the leadership to the state Republican Party for further examination of their alleged misdoings. An email sent by Michael Johnson, leader of Grassroots for America, targets Ben Paris (chairmain), Martina Varela, and Eric Monte.

The complaints allege that among other infractions, the members violated Florida Statutes, ignored RPOF/Robert's Rules of procedure, and failed to adhere to the RPOF officer duties and leadership manual.

"On February 17, 2022 at the next regularly scheduled SCREC meeting it is expected in accordance with the Rules of the RPOF  that these resolutions/motions to remove will be introduced by Motions of Prvilege by the members and citations read and the evidence presented by members and voted on in accordance with the Robert's Rules of Order 12th Revised Edition. Notice was sent by Certified U.S. Mail to those cited for removal charges on 5 Febuary 2022. in accordance with Section 2 of ARTICLE V of the RPOF County Model Constitution."

In a retort to this assertion, SCREC chairman Ben Paris told the Local News stating the following: "We received a general complaint from a SCREC member. However, a formal grievance was not filed with the local nor the state grievance committee. There are specific rules and procedures in place to address such issues, and it’s the board’s intent to follow them. As such, our focus will remain with our primary goal, which is to assist and support Republicans seeking elected office."

Orlando Local News reached out for comment from other parties with no response.
