Orlando Photo Studio Paints the Town with Vibrant Color and Smiling Faces
Models Katherine and Nicolle pose for a photoshoot at Orlando's Wall Crawl.

Many happy patrons now agree— the writing's on the wall: Central Florida's most colorful photo studio may also be Orlando residents' favorite new obsession. Decorated with ornate designs and a wide flurry of colors, Orlando Wall Crawl's studio beckons photographers and models, combining the best of art, fashion and design.

The walls frequently change but the address remains the same. In the heart of the Parramore District, the studio brings all corners of Orlando together around photography. The studio is used for many activities, including baby pictures, Quinceaneras, sweet sixteens, wedding photos and TikTok models who gather in the studio's rooms to showcase their creativity and photographic skills.

We encountered two TikTok models upon our recent visit to the rooms at Wall Crawl. Nicolle and Katherine seemed to be in heaven, snapping pictures and portraits of the eachother in every corner of the building. With so many walls and only sixty minutes of fun, the pair were able to accomplish quite a lot, something Katherine says she loved making a part of her birthday.

Joshua Johnson, owner of Wall Crawl, welcomed guests inside upon our arrival and explained the impetus behind the idea for Wall Crawl: "We realized that photography has evolved significantly but the photo studio hasn't. More people than ever enjoy photography as a hobby or as a pro. They're always looking for fun places to explore it. We wanted to create a space that would allow people to do that and fill it with things that were fun. Things that would bring joy."

The effort to choose designs and put them together falls to Joshua's wife, Jeanette. "The task of creating designs is overseen by my wife. We work with a school of local designers and artists to complete each project." One of the local artists: 22 year old Sabrina Dessalines,  graduate of UCF who recently designed and executed a work to honor black history month, a fitting tribute in one of Florida's oldest African American communities. The owners also pressed the importance of amplifying the voices already present in the Parramore art community and the history behind it.

Joshua and Jeanette Johnson operate as a husband and wife content creation team. Expert photographers and burgeoning entrepreneurs, the couple works to bring the joy of art and photography into people's lives. Joshua's many projects include Sunrail, Rethink Homelessness, Starter Studio, the National Entrepreneur Center, Instagram accounts @lakeeola and @orlandokingcobra, and professor of Entrepreneurial Marketing at UCF. Jeanette founded @jseverydayfashion, dubbed one of the most trafficked fashion blogs in the US. She often make TV appearances and cofounded Eden & Ivy, an ethical clothing line. The pair were married in 2015 and traveled the world taking photos.

Though no does much traveling during COVID, Wall Crawl offers a a fun and cultured experience right here in our own back yard. To visit Wall Crawl, be sure to make an appointment in advance for $25. Fees are less for children and free for infants under 2. Visitors may also decide to buy an "image package" and have a professional photographer support the photoshoot. The sixty minute sessions endand begin on the dot so guests are advised to arrive without delay and to be cognizant of time. The space also welcomes dogs on designated "Dog Nights" for those hoping to bring their furry friends. Visitors concerned about health safety will also be happy to learn of the studio's thorough cleaning policy, and their social distancing and masking requirements.
