Fine Dining Review: Chef's Table at the Edgewater

Fine Dining Review: Chef's Table at the Edgewater

Among the morass of artificial strip malls and Central Florida, few towns serve as a refuge for diners and visitors seeking a respite from side of the road businesses.

Winter Garden offers one such oasis to the weary in the fabulous “Chef‘s Table at the Edgewater.” The intimate space sits directly behind the Edgewater waters tasting room, where the casual setting allows guests a few minutes to grab a cocktail before heading to the formal dining room in the rear of The restaurant concealed through stain glass and wooden paneling.

Diners are ushered through the main lobby of the Edgewater Hotel (originally built in 1926) before passing the restaurants kitchen. Although chef‘s table may not be gargantuan incise, it is the private and limited nature of the setting that brings the establishment it’s charm.

Throughout the evening, the quiet atmosphere's only musical backdrop, the great American jazz standards, serenade guests, casting a magical spell on those of all ages.

The restaurant offers and all inclusive three-course dinner for $65 per person plus wine flight packages starting at $29. Depending on one’s affinity for wine, and the number of people at the table, purchasing a bottle may be more economical.

The menu also includes a wide range of spirits and classic cocktails as well as the restaurants own craft versions of standard favorites.

Start start off, for a party of two, we suggest splitting two appetizers. The foie de gras and escargot undoubtably sit at the top of that list. Our waiter suggested the pork ribeye with candied vegetables, and for a second choice, chef’s table’s famous whitefish.

Our dinner included a sampling of all desserts also, none of which disappointed.

The Tasting Room and Chef's Table remain indispensible icons of Winter Garden and Central Florida as a whole thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the restuarant's staff and ownership. Whether celebrating or just seeking an intimate date for two, we highly recommend Chef's Table.
