Endorsement: Deborah Bauer for Seminole County School Board District 1
Deborah Bauer remains the most qualified candidate in the race for Seminole School Board District 1. She's got the experience and the steam to fight for the best education possible for our children and the taxpayers of Seminole County.
Here are the facts. Bauer has longtime roots here and she knows the people of our area like the back of her hand. She has always pushed for the betterment of our community and often leads and volunteers in all corners of Seminole.
Bauer's record of service includes volunteering as a guest speaker during annual teach ins, volnteering at Orange County Public Schools, Dividend for SCPS, volunteerism at LHHS' Take Stock in Children Program, and is the Founder and President of the Seminole County and Casselberry Historical Society. In addition, Bauer also spends time running the Save Deer Run Citizen's Action Group.
If elected, Bauer seeks to continue her record of successful service by advocating greater transparency, accountability and communication between schools and parents, and focus on students and not politics. Bauer also articulates in her platform the necessity of increased communication and partnership with the school board and other government agencies.
She also supports reforming the current Exceptional Education policies and practices, an significant step to overhauling our county's education system.
Bauer's native roots in Seminole County provide an excellent building block for her policy proposals, enjoying strong relationships with local leaders and residents.
As a fourth grader, Deborah attended her first ever Seminole County School Board meeting on May 28, 1991. The board recognized her for winning third place in a state poetry contest hosted by the Florida Department of Curriculum and Instructional Services. The ending of the poem she wrote, entitled “My Career Choice,” proves that Deborah knew at a very early age what she always wanted to be.
The final line of Deborah’s poem proudly predicated “I think I’ll choose to be a teacher!” A life-long learner, Deborah continued her academic career by obtaining an Associate of Arts Degree from Seminole State College, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tampa, two Masters of Arts Degrees from the University of North Florida and the University of Central Florida, and finally she received her PhD in American History from the University of South Florida.
Her track record and vision for Seminole County bring fresh air to SCSB and we strongly endorse her for the District 1 seat. Deborah lives in Casselberry. She enjoys cooking, reading, and jewelry-making. She spends as much of her free time as possible with her young niece and nephew and her rescue-dog, Belle.
