Oro Mexican Restaurant Set to Open in Coming Months
With the grand opening of Cigarz on the Avenue's new location, the lounge's former space is making way for a new tenant: Oro Mexican Restaurant. ORO, translating to “gold” in Spanish, will bring new flare to Park Avenue as well as handcrafted and tableside cocktails, countless tequilas and, of course, Mexican cuisine.
Starting this week, passersby can witness the restaurant's preparation as contractors begin their work.
“[Winter Park] just needed something new and different,” said Jesse Williams, one of the operating partners for ORO, in a recent interview. “You get a lot of high-energy types of restaurants over in the Sand Lake area. You have The H, you have Rocco’s Tacos, and even Eddie V’s. We wanted to bring that [high energy] to the Park Avenue area.”
Along with his business partner Kevin Young, Williams has opened and operated several restaurants and clubs. The two formed Park Avenue Concepts LLC prior to signing the lease for a 3,000-square-foot space at 331 S. Park Ave. Prior to Oro, the location hosted Mon Petit Cheri Café, in addition to Cigarz on the Avenue.
“Whether it’s a 21-year-old who wants to hang out until 10 or 11 o’clock at night or someone who’s older, you won’t have to drive far to get that kind of entertainment,” Williams said.
According to an August interview with Williams, the restaurant will be opened by the end of the year.
