Memorial Service Announced for Orlando PD Officer Kevin Valencia
Orlando Police Dep. disclosed that retired policeman Kevin Valencia has died of complications from imjuries he received when he was shot and critically injured in a June 2018 domestic violence call. The tragic drama ultiamtely ended in the deaths, not only of Valencia, but the suspect's entire family.

Though Valencia received treatment in Atlanta before returning to Orlando, his health did not improve. Orlando Rolon, Orlando's Police Chief, remembered Valencia for his courage: "Officer Valencia risked his life for people he didn't even know — a risk that many in the law enforcement profession take without question. Since that tragic night, Officer Valencia has been fighting for his life with his family by his side."

Awarded the Purple Heart in 2018, the Orlando Police Department requested continued support, prayers and privacy for Valencia's family in their time of loss.

Karen Kinman Chambers, Valencia's mother, posted on her Facebook page thanking everyone for the community's response to her son's death: "I am still very numb but reading all of your prayers and words are very comforting." Orlando police laid a wreath front of a patrol car at Orlando Police Department Headquarters today in his honor.

A funeral will be held for Officer Valencia on March 24 at 11 a.m.
