Cigarz On the Avenue Opens New Location

Cigar aficionados will get a special treat this year with the opening of a larger, expanded Cigarz On the Avenue location in Winter Park. The beloved Winter Park icon will be moving from Park Avenue to Orange Avenue this coming week.

"After 25 years of serving Winter Park, we are moving less than a mile away. Almost ready to open on September 27th. Thank you to all those who supported us for the last 25 years and continue [to do so]!"

The new location includes a full bar with an even wider selection of cigars to choose from, including commemorative smokes. One such cigar, Atabeys, is styled in a glossy white finish, featuring a custom second band celebrating Cigarz on the Ave’s 25th Anniversary.

The new location brings not only greater space and a more robust variety of cigars and libations, but also retains the same classy atmosphere currently enjoyed by customers on Park Avenue.

Cigarz on the Avenue was founded in 1996 by Mark Angelo, a former sporting-goods retailer, and previous minor league baseball player for the St. Luis Cardinals. Angelo, sold Global Sports USA on Church Street in 1995 and with investor R.C. Hill, they doubled the size of the store, adding private cigar lockers and a cigar club with an outdoor courtyard.

In 2001, Mark Angelo sold the store to Don Patel who currently operates the business. Patel's passion for cigars led him not only to fulfill his American Dream, but also instill fun and good times in the lives of his customers.

Cigarz' final day on Park Avenue will be September 25th. The Grand Re-opening will take place on September 27th.
