Opinion: Whining TikTok Model a Disgrace to Our Military
As the Editor of a news publication, my job is to report the facts and provide a safe venue for all opinions. Here's mine.
Although I've never served in the military, I've spent time in war zones all over the world from Europe to the Middle East for a variety of purposes, in addition to spending many hours with our brave service members here in the states.
U.S. Army soldier and TikTok "influencer" Itzel Hernandez claims in a video posted to TikTok that her recruiter lied about the purpose of the military, allegedly stating she would "never deploy and only do field exercises once or twice a year."
First of all, we weren't there. We don't know what the recruiter actually said, how he phrased his statements. More than likely, Hernandez didn't listen carefully enough, or have common sense.
But let's assume she's telling the truth. That she paid attention. The recruiter lied. That's like showing up to Bay Hill and expecting a Nascar race. The logic just doesn't make sense.
We really can't blame Hernandez though. The problem highlights yet another example of decline in our nation's strength. With military standards being lowered, and recruting commercials like this one, why is this surprising?
With that being said, her comments were not only cowardly, but a slap in the face to her fellow service members.
In the video, a caption states: "This life is not for me."
She's right. The Army would be better off by letting her go home and start an Onlyfans page than jump on a plane to Iraq.
