Governor to Lower Flags for Limbaugh Following Sabatini Letter
"Today I sent a letter to Governor DeSantis requesting the lowering of Florida’s flags to half-staff in honor of the passing of a great Floridian—Rush Limbaugh," State Rep. Anthony Sabatini announced Wednesday on Twitter. "Rush was a relentless champion of America and of civic engagement. May his memory live on forever."
Limbaugh died last week after a battle with lung cancer. Sabatini's fervor for America's "truth detector" and conservative values was on full display in his recent letter to Governor Ron DeSantis:
Beloved by millions, it has also been said that Rush Limbaugh influenced many leaders on the right to enter the arena of politics, notably former Vice President Mike Pence and Rep. Sabatini. Though detractors hit back at DeSantis and Sabatini for their support of lowering the state's flags, the practice to do so for cultural icons of all political persuasions is not uncommon at the state level. In 2012, New Jersey ordered flags at half mast in honor singer Whitney Houston who died that year, a prominent Democrat.
DeSantis stated that "once the date of internment for Rush is announced, we’re going to be lowering the flags to half-staff."
Sabatini, a zealous Trump acolyte, recently proposed naming a highway after former President Trump as well, teeing up even more support for the already widely celebrated conservative firebrand. Though Sabatini as of late suggested he may run for State Senate, his future remains an open book.
