GOP Congressional Hopeful Cory Mills Organizes Hurricane Ian Food Drive
Congressional contender Cory Mills has always had a servant's heart. Serving for seven years in Iraq and many more in the military as a whole, he knows the meaning of duty. But for Mills, a candidate for Congressional District 7, that duty didn’t end on the battlefield.
Mills and his entire team sprung into action this week to organize the transport of food to Central Florida for residents in need following the onslaught of hurricane Ian.
Thousands of Floridians remain without power and damaged homes remain a constant theme across the state. Although Central Florida was spared much of the damage, many are still without electricity and downed powerlines and trees riddle the state.
A strong believer in community, Mills told OLN he believes being a public servant is much more than just lawmaking and statesmanship, and that it means engaging and supporting the community directly.
Mills is favored to win in November against his Democrat opponent with the Cook Political Report rating the district as leaning Republican.
The last Republican to hold Congressional District 7, Congressman John Mica, was defeated by outgoing Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy in 2016. Redistricting following the 2020 census drastically changed the demographics and boundary lines of the district. However, district 7 still encompasses Seminole County and now includes a greater portion of Volusia.
The General Election is on November 8.
