Florida Radio Station Broadcasts in Ukraine
WRMI, a Florida radio station based near Lake Okeechobee now broadcasts in Russia. The south Florida radio station is located in the middle of a cow pasture, where the operator beams the station's signal to Russia, Ukraine and beyond.
WRMI (Radio Miami International) sends shortwave signal through the ionosphere where the waves bounce off the atmosphere onto the other side of the globe. The station broadcasts in English, Russian and Ukrainian.
Voice of America has scaled back much of their service overseas. And although shortwave is old fashioned, many parts of Russia and Ukraine still use the technology.
