Developer Castco Seeks to Redevelop Winter Park Village
Castco, a developer in the Orlando area, recently unveiled a planned redevelopment of the Winter Park Village. Casto Southeast Realty Services stated in rececent interviews that much of the mall's current outlay will be reimagined and brought up to date. Many facets of the current mall will remain with additions.
The grassy space near the cinemas by The Hangry Bison will be paired with two water fountains and redesigned to be a more urbanized park area, although the parallel parking will be altered, substituting park space instead.
The project's cost has been estimated to be roughly $20 million and the mammoth revamp will witness many office spaces' conversion to residential units.
“We are thrilled with the leasing activity that we have and the quality of the tenants that we have finalized deals with or are very close to signing," they said. "We expect to announce some very exciting new tenants in mid-March.” One quarter of the original Winter Park Mall burned down during the Easter holiday of 1969.
Major restaurants will also see improvements as well under the project such as Ruth's Chris. The possible renovation of the mall comes at a moment when many other malls and communities are seeking to beautify or rethink their current dining, retail and residential layout.
A project proposal for repurposement of Fashion Square Mall also made headlines last year.
