DeSantis Slams Disney for China Alliance
Ron DeSantis says dissolving Disney's special district should be 'wake up call' for company. The governor also criticized the company's cozy relationship with China.
"How do they possibly explain lining their pockets with their relationship from the Communist Party of China?" DeSantis shared in a statement, via his press secretary Christina Pushaw. "Because that’s what they do, and they make a fortune, and they don’t say a word about the really brutal practices at the hands of the CCP."
DeSantis said the elimination of the Reedy Creek district's autonomy should be a "wake up call" for the theme park behemoth.
"I am not comfortable having one company with their own government and special privileges, when that company has pledged itself to attacking the parents in my state," he said. "When that company has very high up people talking about injecting pansexualism into programing for young kids, it's wrong. Walt Disney would not want that."
Orange County Mayor and staunch left-wing Democrat Jerry Demings criticized the decision by DeSantis and the legislature.
