Business Sizzling at Winter Garden’s Country House Restaurant

Visit Winter Garden's Country House Restaurant any day of the week and you'll find business sizzling. Owned by the Wooding family, Country House Restaurant has operated for the past 27 years with one goal mind: providing the best food and customer service in Orlando's diner industry. The restaurant serves as a magnet for the community, a place where residents can enjoy delicious home-cooked food, and good company to go with it.

The restaurant offers Central Florida's tastiest diner food with a southern flare. From light items such as buscuits or toast to large meals like steak and eggs with potatoes, Country House Restaurant dishes up all your favorite plates for breakfast, brunch and lunch. The establishment also hosts frequent friday fish fries in addition to their regular line up.

Though most long time Winter Garden residents have heard of the Country House, the restaurant always welcomes new customers to the family. The local hang-out is an Orlando-area tradition for many and continues to flourish and grow.

However, the business encountered rough waters this year, as Orange County's left-wing Mayor, Jerry Demings, pursued a relentless program of punitive measures against businesses not complying with burdensome and costly COVID regulations.

But not even the dispatchment of strike teams or draconian fines against local businesses altered the loyalty of the community. The restuarant continues to thrive and recently praised Governor Ron DeSantis for his rescission of the draconian county mandates wreaking havoc across the state. In a statement issued on their website, the restaurant lauded DeSantis's actions: "Thank You Gov. DeSantis! We are seating at 100% capacity! We are also still available for To-Go Orders."

Despite vaccinations and the Governor's order to rescind COVID restrictions, the small business still has its critics, including food snobs such as Scott Joseph of the Orlando Sentinel, who criticized the restaurant for ignoring the county's nullified mandate. Joseph, who has never built a business or operated a restaurant in his life, seems to know all the answers when it comes to being a restaurateur.

Elitist reporters and power hungry politicans may try their hand at micromanagement; but in the end, the indomitable spirit of our local community will rise to the challenge. Three cheers for Country House Restaurant on their great food, three decades of success and resolute spirit.
