Sabatini, Gaetz Hold Packed Lake County Rally
Conservative firebrand Rep. Anthony Sabatini held a rally yesterday with embattled Congressman Matt Gaetz in support of the state legislator's presumptive run against the district's incumbent officerholder Stephanie Murphy.
"Anthony is not going to be a favorite of the insiders. He’s not going to be the favorite of the Washington elite. But he’s going to be your favorite. He’s going to be our man. He’s going to be our fighter," Rep. Matt Gaetz told a packed Howie crowd on Saturday.
Gaetz also highlighted Sabatini's efforts as one of the state's most conservative legislators by opposing vaccine mandates, filing a bill to ban transgender surgery among children, as well as touting legislation to rename highway 27 in honor of the nation's former chief executive, Donald Trump, the first sitting President to be a resident of the state.
"In the state of Florida, no one has been working harder to fight against mandates, to advance the cause of freedom, to define conservative principles, like your State Representative and future Congressman, Anthony Sabatini."
Sabatini, currently running in Florida’s 7th Congressional District, will appear at a so-called “Nightmare on RINO Street” event Sunday in Orlando.
With district lines yet to be fully determined, Sabatini has already switched districts once, and the final Primary field will not likely materialize for several more weeks. Gaetz meanwhile faces an investigation by the Justice Department into several allegations related to the Joel Greenberg prosecution.
Gaetz and allies deny the assertions made against him by critics in the media, sporting a defiant tone, while also labeling the inquiry a form of political persecution.
Greenberg currently continues to cooperate with Federal officials in line with a previously signed plea deal.
