The annual ExcelinEd conference recently took place at Disney's Coronado Springs where political leaders and national figures met to explore policymaking priorities in education. The convention took place between November 17-18 and featured guest speakers and a keynote address by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.

Bush founded and chairs the Foundation for Excellence in Education.

Also in the line up were Cornell West and Robert George of Princeton University. While both leaders remain on opposing sides in regards to their ideological views, each spoke to the virtues of tolerating other perspectives and being respectful in academic discourse.

Attendees arrived from all over the country, including state legislators, mayors and political leaders of all stripes.

The event website describes the summit as "the nation’s premier gathering of education policymakers, practitioners and advocates. Each year, more than a thousand state and national leaders convene for the annual event, providing an unparalleled forum for exchanging results-based solutions and strategies that can shape public policy so critical to transforming education. This unique conference serves as a catalyst for energizing and accelerating education improvements across the nation."
