Congressional Candidate Hosts Left-Right Forum
From the heart of America's burning cities in last summer's BLM-Antifa rampage, to the recent capital riot, finding a middle ground or at least fostering a better understanding between left and right today seems almost an impossible objective. Central Florida and our state saw little of the rioting and extremism that plagued many parts of the country. Riots continue disparately throughout the United States in some places even to the present time on an infrequent basis.
A local candidate for Congress, Willie Montague, now sees an path for bringing people together despite their differences. Holding an open forum near N. Hiawassee Rd. in Pine Hills, Montague organize a talk between the different factions within our community to help promote discourse and civility.
BLM activists and Democrats explained their frustration with the plight of the black community by suggesting a raise in the minimum wage at $20 an hour, while critics pointed out last year they suggested a raise at $15 an hour. Democrats and activists also suggested that US Post Offices should serve as fiduciary institutions for the poor.
The Republican side had plenty to say in response by pointing out the massive size of the US government already: “We don’t just need hand outs, we need hand ups. The government is too big already.”
Willie Montague announced for his bid against Congresswoman Val Demings in FL-10 recently and at the present has no Republican challengers in the Primary. Not related to his campaign, Montague says the events will continue in the future with the next one being planned for March.
