Al Hernandez will get Pasco's School Board back to the ABCs of education. A strong Christian, healthcare executive at Humana, and former adjunct professor at Florida National University, Hernandez knows more than a thing or two about the field of education.

Hernandez enjoys a robust history in education, starting with his graduation from Miami Senior High School. He continued his studies by obtaining an Associates in Arts from Miami-Dade Community College and later earned a Bachelor’s of Business Management from Nova Southeastern University, where he also attained a Master’s in International Business and Finance.

Hernandez' personal experience has led him to believe that a better school system is the catalyst for A Better Community (ABC), something enshrined in his campaign platform.

"I am a proud product of the public education system. I believe that our children deserve a better future with an education that can foster their dreams. I want to be able to show all students that no matter how humble your beginnings, no matter the adversity, you can make a difference in your life, and in the world around you." Hernandez said.

As a husband, a son, a brother, and a proud father of two, Hernandez' family oriented values and faith inform his life ethically, morally and elsewhere.

"I value a family rooted in faith, a strong education, hard work, and a solid moral compass. I am a firm believer in the American Dream and have a powerful desire to make a positive, and lasting difference in the lives of our children, their families, and our school’s staff and educators," Hernandez explained. "These characteristics are what make me the ideal candidate to represent our Pasco School Board."

We believe Hernandez will work to serve as a true advocate for the district by making reasonable decisions and supporting policies to advancing the interests of both children and staff. Hernandez possesses a true vision for the future based on bolstering foundational education, maintaining governance standards and re-examining instructional and educational curriculum.

What's more, Hernandez also understands the key to a well run school district also comes down budgeting and finances, something the candidate says he would like to be seen run more efficiently. But financially sound policies aren't the end of Hernandez' focus on budgeting. He also believes in teaching fundamental education, workforce creation, and financial literacy in the classroom.

But above all, Hernandez said he seeks to create an atmosphere and culture of curiosity, a place where students love to learn and teachers love to teach.

"My vision is to lead, support, and provide an environment of learning that fosters curiosity. I want our children to discover the impossible while maximizing their interest, and growing in their love of learning. To achieve a support system that encourages success in our staff, educators, parent/guardian fellowship, and skill-training."

Pasco County needs a strong voice for education and someone with a diverse and robust background to get the job done. Although much of Hernandez career derives from the field of education, his experience is far more diverse.

Hernandez has also served as a Pasco-Hernando State College Trustee, a Pasco County Housing Commissioner, supporting the elderly, veterans, and families procuring affordable housing, and a Co-Chair for Humana’s Bold Goal Initiative.

His life story, successful career and strong community focus on Pasco County all signal that Hernandez is the one. We strongly endorse Al Hernandez for Pasco County School Board District 1.
